Free Web Stats using StatCounter.
StatCounter is a free Page View counter or Web Statistics generator. If you are interested in monitoring or tracking traffic to your goClub/Memberize pages this article will guide you in the installation and use of this popular Web Stat. application.
How it works: You must create a StatCounter account, your web stats will be logged and stored on the StatCounter servers. Every time a visitor “hits” the page you are tracking the StatCounter script you install there logs this visit and sends this information to your StatCounter account.
-
Create a StatCounter account here:http://my.statcounter.com/register.php or login with your user/pass combination if you already have a StatCounter account.
-
Enter the URL of the page you wish to track. The easiest way to do this is open another browser window and navigate to the page you wish to track, make sure you select a page you have edit access to since you will need to place the StatCounter script inside this page. Note that you can place the script in your goClub/Memberize Footer, and if you select the “Unique Visits” option this will track visitors to any page inside your goClub/Memberize account.
-
Select the format/options: you can display the stats on the page, hide them from visitors, display them elsewhere (on another page that isn’t being tracked, with this option you get two pieces of code to paste, one for the display and one for the page tracking) or display a StatCounter logo/button only.
-
Select Unique or Pageload. We recommend Unique as this gives a more accurate picture of the number of users accessing your page, however you can also track each Pageload, this will count every time a browser requests the page (note that this can happen several times for each visitor as they browse around your site).
-
Select the counter type. If you have selected the “invisible only” option skip this step, otherwise select which type of counter you prefer, text only or image based. Note that you can customize these options later in the process.
-
Other options: After you configure the Counter Display StatCounter lists some other HTML, XHTML, and W3C options. Leave all these options blank or unchecked.
-
Copy the code for your counter and/or counter display and simply paste this into your page (or page Footer) using the soEditor.
Now you will have a free web counter for your project!
